A security system is only as good as its weakest mount, its worst camera angle, and the default password nobody changed. We plan the layout for your specific house, install it cleanly, keep the footage on your property, and hand you a system you understand.
What is included
- Site survey and written planWe walk the property with you: approaches, entry points, sight-lines, lighting, existing wiring, where your family actually comes and goes. You receive a diagram and a plain-language plan before any equipment is ordered.
- Cameras, placed for evidence not decorationWired PoE cameras wherever a cable can be run — they are more reliable, need no batteries, and are not lost when the Wi‑Fi hiccups. Angles chosen to capture faces and plates at usable size, with night performance tested after dark.
- Local recordingA recorder in your home stores the footage. Nothing is uploaded unless you choose it. You can still view live and recorded video from your phone, anywhere, over an encrypted connection.
- Entry, motion and glass-break sensorsEvery exterior door and reachable window; motion coverage of the main paths; glass-break where large panes invite it. Battery life and tamper status visible in one place.
- Smart deadbolts you can auditReliable, ANSI-graded deadbolts with codes per person, a log of who came and went, and no dependency on a phone app to get in. Reinforced strike plates on every exterior door as standard.
- Sirens, chimes and lightingAn audible response inside and out, gentle door chimes for daily awareness, and lighting that turns on when it should — the single most effective deterrent there is.
- Hardened setupDefault passwords changed, firmware updated, remote access secured, cameras isolated from the rest of your network. The parts most installers skip.
- Walkthrough and handbookWe teach the household how it works and leave a written handbook: each device, each login you own, and exactly what to do when something alerts.
Who this is for
Households who want a system that is genuinely theirs — no monthly fees to us, no proprietary panel that stops working when a contract ends, no footage of their front door living on a stranger's server. It suits new construction and hundred-year-old farmhouses equally; the plan is different, the care is the same.
If you already have a system and simply want it fixed, expanded, or brought under your own control, we do that too.
What you walk away with
A working system tested against the plan; the recorder, cameras and sensors in your name; every password and account in the handbook; and a household that can add a user code, review a clip, silence a false alarm, or replace a sensor battery without calling anyone.
Common questions
Do you require a monitoring contract?
No. Nothing we install requires a subscription to us. If you want professional monitoring — a central station that dispatches when you cannot — we will explain the options and their costs honestly and configure your system to work with the one you choose. Many households find that phone alerts, sirens and lighting are enough; some prefer monitoring. Either way, it is your decision and your account.
Wired or wireless cameras?
Wired wherever possible. A Power‑over‑Ethernet cable delivers both power and video over one line, never needs charging, and does not compete with your television for Wi‑Fi. Wireless cameras have a place — a detached barn, a rental where drilling is not allowed — and we use them there, but not by default.
Will the cameras record my neighbors?
We aim cameras at your property and its approaches, and we use privacy masks to black out portions of a view that fall on a neighbor's windows or yard. Audio recording is a separate matter with stricter rules; we discuss it during the plan and default it off outdoors. Our Field Guide on camera basics covers this in more detail.
Can I keep the equipment I already have?
Usually some of it. Good cameras and sensors from most manufacturers can be brought into a local system. Devices that only work through one company's cloud are the exception; we will tell you which is which before you decide.
How is the work priced?
By written quote after the site survey — equipment itemized at cost plus labor by the job, with the reasoning attached. No “free equipment,” no financing games.
