About

A plain-spoken guide through the risks nobody explains.

Protect Indiana exists because the security industry sells to the people who already understand it and ignores everyone else. We serve everyone else: Hoosier households, older neighbors, veterans, and the small organizations that hold a town together — in plain English, free where it should be, and professionally where you want it.

What we believe

That most harm to households today comes not from hackers but from unanswered questions — is this call real? is my email account actually mine? what is on my Wi‑Fi? That the answers are learnable by anyone. And that a household which understands its own security is safer than one which merely pays for it.

That is why the Field Guides are free and will stay free; why our help for seniors, veterans and nonprofits is free; and why every paid engagement ends with a written plan you can follow without us.

Why “.org”

Protect Indiana is a service business, and we say so plainly. We chose the address because of how we intend to run it: patient with questions, honest about trade-offs, and committed to leaving every household more capable than we found it. There is no sales team, no quota, no contract and no monthly fee to us. The person you write to is the person who does the work.

Who we are

Protect Indiana is operated by AMF LLC, an Indiana company based in Wilkinson, in Hancock County, and founded by Adam Ferree. Our background is in building and running software systems and the networks and safeguards around them — the same skills, turned toward the households and organizations that have never had anyone to ask.

We are new, and we would rather tell you that than pretend otherwise. What we offer in place of a long history is a plain method, written down and followed the same way every time, and the willingness to answer any question until it is actually answered.

How we work

  1. A conversation. What happened, or what worries you. We listen more than we recommend.
  2. The checkup or review. Unhurried, in order of importance, with you at the keyboard for anything involving your passwords.
  3. The written plan. What we changed, what you own, what to do next, whom to call for what.
  4. The follow-through. Questions afterward are part of the job, not an extra.

What we are not

We are not a government agency and are not affiliated with the State of Indiana; we chose the name because it says what we do. We are not lawyers, financial advisers, or a law-enforcement body, and our guides say so where it matters. We do not sell monitoring subscriptions, and we do not take referral payments from any manufacturer or service; when we recommend a product, it is because we would put it in our own house.
